When you name your band Christian Aids, there are only improvements to be made. With a new name and dark new sound, Stay + might literally infect you.
The Weeknd – The Morning (music video) from High Five Collective on Vimeo.
It’s tough to pick a favorite track off of the Weeknd mixtape. It does sometimes teeter on being too free, too unreserved. It’s sometimes too poppy in an almost cheesy way but just when you think it’s going out of bounds it rears back into beauty. Grab the free House of Balloons mixtape here.
Good stuff. Apparently there are two more Weeknd mixtapes due out in 2011.
The Thin Red Line is up there with Pi and Lost in Translation for me as my favorite films of all time. Tree of Life looks unmistakenly Malick-y with it’s sharp imagery and tension building ease.
Every time the weather gets warm I get the feeling I want to write a movie. Does anyone have any experience in script or story writing in a similar way?
Maybe we could kick some ideas around…
I don’t know if I’m just completely susceptible to this syrupy slice of faux-emotional depth or if there really is something almost tragic about this take on a pure pop dance-floor disco jam?
Is it totally empty? Sensationalist?
I love it.
Anticipating this album like crazy. Checking the leak sites daily… any day now.
By the way. Goblin has always been my go-to. Such a great word.
Not sure this helps anyone’s image of New Jersey but it does reaffirm some of what I thought were stereotypes… lots of bros, baseball caps and a general lack of fashion sense.
Maybe all those reality shows had it right?
No doubt I am a fan of these guys. Glad to see they’ve been signed and I must admit it is funny to see Stratton so serious here (and typically on stage) because he’s actually super funny and personable. Pat though, very serious and seemingly full of something you might call artistic tension. Love these dudes.
I posted the video for Dat Ass a while back and since then Complex thinks they have tracked Earl to Samoa. Tyler, The Creator denied this on his Twitter account but who knows, Complex does have a compelling case, particularly with those photos. Either way, I can’t wait for EARL to get back with the group because he seems to be talent #2 right behind Tyler.
In related news… My friend from the L.A. clothing company 7Lightningbolt and I have teamed up to bring you a couple of shirts. I wanted a SWAG shirt, couldn’t find one so I asked him to make them. You can get one too if you want. Click here to buy your own SWAG shirt. You can use coupon code SWAGRULES (all caps) for 10% off. That code is good for the BASED and Queens of the Stone Age inspired shirts as well. Let me know if you like them.

This song and album is insane. If you didn’t hear “Glass Jar” when they first dropped it I recommend seeking it out. The album mixes so many styles it’s almost impossible to put into a catergory. “Experimental” is the only word that seems to fit. I had to go to my stereo the other day because I was stumped as to what was shuffling out of my speakers. Turns out it was “Romance Layers” which sounds completely from another time.
